Just Another Day... Or is it?

Christiaan, or known as Christopher Burns on Gaius, was on surfing the internet as usual. Well, he spends most of his free time at night on Facebook, chatting with his girl, watching some HK dramas... It was 30 minutes past 9, everyone else is too on the computer, all eight of his housemates. As he scrolled down the pages, giving a quick glance at the multitude of status updates, videos, links, and everything else one can find on the Facebook news feed wall, he felt a slight tinge. Ignoring that little pulse of electric, he continued on...

Not a moment later, that tinge grew into a twitch. Christiaan felt a little annoyed by now. "Can't i pass a day without a battle, some kind or another? Sheesh..." Slowly, cautiously, he expanded his mind, his mental connection to the rest of the world, feeling every living thing, big and small, brushing past their minds. As he proceeds, Chris rapidly lays down the bricks to his mental defense, and lighting the firewall to his mind, careful as his consciousness expands. Occasionally, he stops now and then, quietly listening to the murmurs of the animals in this urban area, listening to their anxieties as they too felt the disturbance.

Suddenly, he felt a cold jolt up his spine. This time, the twitch grew so strong that he almost jumped from his chair. That jolt prepares his nerves for combat, as his mind continues to grow. Then, a strong wave of magical energy surges through the area. He sat up straight, focusing his thoughts on the source of energy. He stops his conscious expansion, for his mind felt the burning heat of mana leakage. Using his mind to pinpoint the location, he thought he felt a portal opening, and thought, "Hmm... Don't the De'viels learn a lesson? Opening a portal like that dissipates mana faster than a ballon pierced..."

Next thing he knew, a rumbling roar of laughter echoes through the air. And all of the sudden, another pulse of energy explodes throughout, sending rattles on the windows, jolting the residences nearby, as the portal closes. Getting impatient, Christiaan gets up and walks to the balcony, at the 14th floor of the rented apartment. So does everyone else in the area, curious as to what stirs their quiet evening. As he approaches the balcony, the figure that walked through the portal said, "Come out now! You little rat! Come out and face me! I WILL NOT go back without your head!" As soon as he finished talking, people started screaming and went inside, leaving the awestruck and curious still watching.

That figure turns out to be a Lich Wraith. An undead person, possesed by evil spirits, yet still have control over his conscious. Lich Wraiths become what they are when a human warlock, a warrior with magical abilities, passes with dissatisfaction. They are then brought back within hours of their passing, losing their soul to the depths, and replaced with evil spirits, they maintain their memories, personalities, and grudge or dissatisfaction. Slowly, and eventually, they are poisoned by the ideals of their De'viellian masters, they are sent out to fulfill their masters orders, as they do with theirs. Upon gaining the dark magic of the spirits, their physique changes, they become taller, slimmer, and paler. Because of the evil within, the emit dark green or dark purple aura, poisonous enough to kill every  non-magic creature within contact.

The Lich Wraith shouted impatiently the second time, "Come out now!!! Fight me!!! And i WILL KILL YOU!!! Hahahaha!!!" The dark magic ring under his feet expanding until it has the same diameter of a sedan. His aura grew darker and started spreading outwards. The Lich Wraith was standing at 12 stories high in the middle of the air. Upon reaching the balcony, Christiaan gently shoves his housemates away from the railing, and jumped over it. Surprised by his actions, they gasped, but no sound came out from their mouths. Relieved and amazed as Christiaan slowly walks on thin air toward the Lich Wraith. Seeing that unusual sight, the damned being turned his glowing red eyes towards him and said, "So, you finally have the courage to show up, eh? Haha, little boy! I didn't expect my master sent me to slay such a puny being. But, here I am, no matter the orders, I shall execute it!"

Looking at the evil being, Christiaan studied his would-be opponent. The Lich Wraith was wearing a knight's armour, ebony black from tip to toe. On his back, to claymore-like swords are crossed, black in hue too. His plume on the helm was black, not giving a slightest hint on his former identity. In his right hand, a long staff-spear with a rectangular crown embedded with the Lich's signature gem rests. On his left hand, a long black spear, with a tip as long as a sword's blade. Besides his black armour, the Lich Wraith carries no other defense items. "The full-black regalia and armour is what gives his former identity away." thought Chris to himself.

Gently, yet with a booming voice of authority, Christiaan spoke, "Greetings! Black knight-king of Paladon!" Taken aback that his identity revealed, the Lich replied, "So, it seems you know your history well, weakling." With a slight grin, Christiaan said, "Didn't you learn in war that do not underestimate your opponents? Come now, save the petty talk, and we'll be on our way." As the Lich gathered his strength, Chris held his cross with his hands. Then a sudden beam of radiance came down from the heavens, the dark clouds parted, lightning flashed across the skies, and then light flowed over Christiaan. The blinding light shut off all visuals to him. And at the same time, the air he was standing on slowly cleared to show a ring of magic, inscribed were his identities in the Qelvarin language, his ring was of radiant blue, glowing immensely.

Then the light from the heavens faded to reveal a knight in shining armour. On his back are a pair of glowing wings. Instead of feathers, the wings are radiant blue in colour, shaped like tendrils outstretched, with 7 of them extending from each side. Though his armour is of platinum white, he emitted a golden radiance. On his armour, are inscriptions on the edges, glowing sapphiric. On his back of his gauntlets, are his insignias, a combination of fire lily and blood rose, blood red ruby in colour, glowing like fires, flowing like blood. On his head, a crowned great helm. The helm itself is platinum white, with his gedwey ignasia design on each temple,    radiant blue in colour. On the top, a scarlet plume, flowing in the wind, red as blood. The crown itself is radiant gold, with a blue-fire ruby set in the centre which glowed blood-red, a single prong rose from the middle, diamond in shape. His very presence commands attention, awe, fear, peace, and elegance of royalty.

Seeing his opponent, Knight-King Darius VI, the Lich Wraith, stood in awe and fear, for he has taken his would-be opponent too lightly. If he felt fear, he did not show it when he said, "So... That's who you are. Regent Quellarin, High King of Erathia, Knight of GOD, Bane of Evil... Seems I really DID underestimated you, eh? Heheh, you are a worthy opponent, and I am truly honoured..."

"So it seems... So it seems......" replied Christiaan Quellarin VII, Prince Regent of Erathia, the future emperor of the Quell'varin, the Blood Elves, of Gaius Tellus.

"Where's your famed weapon, the holy sword, Elyon Crux? Am I not a worthy opponent?" spoke Darius. And as soon as he finished, as flash of golden light came from the East, and the Holy Sword of Seven Names, The High Cross, struck itself in the invisible ground of air the two warriors stood on. Immediately a similar ring of magic appeared, bearing the seven names of the sword, written in the seven languages of the Elves.

Without wasting a word, the black knight rushed forward, with his spear and and staff-spear in each hand. Without hesitation, the golden knight sprang forward, plucked Elyon Crux from the 'ground' and parried the blow of both spears simultaneously. At the moment of impact, the loud clang of metal rang across the sky, lightning flashed and thunder echoed. Rain started to fall, as would every time an elf goes into battle. Springing backwards, the two opponents grinned, secretly behind their visors. Then they edged closer and fought, exchanging blows, metals against metal clanging, reflections flashing as if two ribbons of blue-white and black-green were dancing. Their movements swift and decisive, with every blow landing closer and closer to the neck.

Then suddenly, a loud clang rang. And Darius' spear flew off and stuck itself into the invisible ground they were standing on. Frustrated, Darius struck the ground with the other spear, and drew out his pitch-black swords. As soon as they were drawn, the two swords vanished from sight, clouded from view of everyone. Sensing something amiss, Christiaan called out, 'Crusader! Protect the people!' And immediately a figure appeared atop of the roof of the apartment.

It was Crusader, the Epic Warrior of Christiaan. She was clad in blue-silver armour, bearing similar markings on her armour and gauntlets as her master. However, she did not wear a helm, she dislikes wearing the helm. On the ground she was standing on, her own magical ring appeared. Though she did not glow like her master, but she is still radiant. On her hands were two blades, blue-white on the right, and black-grey on the left. The swords, named Blitz and Sturm, Lightning and Storm, looked like its namesake. As soon as she appeared, she nodded her head, in response to her master.

Seeing the appearance of an Epic Warrior, the black knight yelled, "Conqueror of Persia, Destroyer of Greece, Xerxes, come forth and wage war!" And from his back, a purplish ray of light burst forth, blinding most who laid eyes on it. From it, emerged a figure, clad in purple armour and drapes. Bearing the same aura as his summoner. As he walked, small flames of purple lit, a purplish smoke entrails him, wearing only a crown, he smugly grinned. On his right hand, he carried a long slim spear, with a leaf-shaped blade at its tip, all the while dripping with blood. On his left, an oval purple shield, on the shield carved in a a yellow-gold serpent, reaching for the sun.

The black knight roared, "Think only you have an Epic Warrior at your side? Hahaha, meet Xerxes I, Legendary Warrior King of Persia." And the Epic Warrior bowed in accordance. To Xerxes, Darius spoke, "Destroy Crusader, whoever she may be!". And the warrior dashed towards Crusader, pointing his spear at her. Without waiting on his enemy, Christiaan again swung Elyon Crux towards Darius, and the clanging of metal once again filled the night sky, echoed by the fainter clashing at the background between Crusader and Xerxes.

As he is about to land his blow, Christiaan felt his sword parried before being hit in the waist. "Arrghh! i can't judge the length of his swords.", thought the knight as he fell back. Gripping his blade, he focused on Darius, who was laughing away saying, "So... How does it feel like? The Black Swords of the Night, none can see unless to see..."

"What does that suppose to even mean? None can see unless to see? Is that a riddle or what?", thought Chris to himself. "Arrggh, never mind about that. Let's just dance and see how it all goes. It's been long since an enemy worthy enough to have an Epic Warrior came to face me."

Standing nearly 30 meters apart, both opponents stood face to face, readying themselves for the next round, as the sound of combat rang behind Christiaan. "There are only two ways to defeat his invisible blades. One, kill him there and then, but where's the fun? Two, find a way to make it visible, but how? Hmm... if only i could touch his swords, i can know how are they masked.", thought the knight.

As the black knight released a war cry, he dashed straight for Christiaan, and he followed suit. But as the Lich approached, the Knight released Elyon Crux, and swiftly and gracefully twisted his body, dodging the head on attack, released his gauntlets, and slowly felt the invisible blades, judging on the position of Darius' hands, and shoulders. Darius, astonished by Christiaan's move, planted his left foot on the ground, and pushed to lay down his blow. Christiaan, once again twisted and dodged his strike. This ensued for a few times, and each time, he closed his eyes, and felt the blades, felt the life of it, its story.

After the fifth time, Christiaan was able to figure the length of the swords, its make, its history. The Black Swords of the Night, forged by a sorceror in the fires of Mordor for an Orc general, made of asteroid metal of unknown composition, wavy at the hilt, with 3 curves, straight till the end. No blood ridge. Two fingers wide at the waves, 3 at the base, 2 at the point. Exactly 1.2 meters in length, with an additional 20 centimeters as the grip. No hilt gems, or rather no stones on the sword at all. The entire sword is made in a single piece. The guards are 15 centimeters long. It was a gift from Darius' masters to him. It has slayed many men before, but even worse, it killed more Orcs than humans. No taste for blood, for it has no feelings, only the lust for combat. Thus, the Black Swords of the Night.

A sudden revelation hit Christiaan. "None can see unless to see. It simply means, if one is determined enough, one can accomplish anything! Now a few more rounds before sending them back."

"Alright, enough dancing! Let's fight!", roared Darius, impatient of Christiaan's contant dodging. With a hidden smile, He put his gauntlets back on, but not his sword.

"Pick up your sword!"

"i don't have to...", replied Christiaan smugly.

"Then you shall die by mine!"

Darius again charged straight at Christiaan. Christiaan twisted and veered to the right, grab hold of Darius' wrist and twisted them. And Darius flipped to the ground with a loud thud, just as thunder clapped overhead. With his left blade free, he thrusted it at Christiaan, but he managed to leaped out of reach. Then as quick as lighting, Christiaan came charging straight at Darius as he was getting up, landing 3 fist in succession, then another, then another, and another, right in the gut. Darius fell backwards. Xerxes, sensing his master in danger, came in a flash, standing in between his master and the Knight. Christiaan motioned Crusader to stand her ground, as she leaped behind him.

"Blitz!", spoke Christiaan. And the blade flew into his hand, and lightning struck overhead as two dark clouds clashed into each other. Pointing it to the sky, he swiftly and gracefully brought it down, spinning counter-clockwise twice before slashing the blade down from top-right. At that instant, a bolt of lighting wave surged through the sword and pulsed forwards. Xerxes poised a defensive stance, but was unable to withstand the immense blow, and flew backwards. Not waiting for both of them to regain their foothold, Christiaan did the same again, but this time with lightning bending.

A flash of golden lightning bolt momentarily lit up the night sky and vanished as quickly as it came. The two fallen warriors lay there, unmoving, but very much alive. "It is not my right to take your life. Let the Lord decide where and when! Now go back to your vile masters!"

As he finished his words, Christiaan opened his arms, and a energy chasm opened up beneath the once Black Knight and his Epic Warrior. They went through it and the chasm closed. Releasing a sigh of relief, the armour of Christiaan dissipated away. He wore a tunic, a royal robe. Crusader asked, "Sir, is everything alright?"

"Yes. But i hate it when they keep sending mercenaries. Don't they know that their efforts to fight on Gaius are futile?"

"i don't know... Perhaps you should take a rest. This isn't a place where you should be using magic that much... Her Royal Highness would be very worried..."

"i know... i know, Crusader..."

And the night slowly faded off into sleep... As Crusader casts 'Forgotten, the Pains, Shock, and Horror'.

Chris walked back into his room, as if he were just watching the scenery from the balcony. He sat on his red plastic chair, and kept scrolling the pages of Facebook. 5 minutes later, he opened a media player and watched an episode of drama...
